CODEX - Will it affect you?

I am sure that many of our readers are aware of the 'battle' quietly going on behind the scenes relating to CODEX in Europe. In essence the 'battle' which is being waged is between the natural products and health freedom movements and that of the pharmaceutical lobby.

Although most of this activity is taking place in Europe the rest of the world is not immune to whatever is finally determined in these meetings. This is because of the relationship between CODEX and the WTO (World Trade Organization) which has the power to impose trade 'penalties' on those countries who do not 'bend' to suit.

Some 'experts' believe that these new rules which are being proposed will not have any impact on residents of the USA. On the other hand other 'experts' feel it will. One thing that I am sure that everyone will agree with is that the whole question is very complex.

From a consumers point of view it is not easy to get factual, unemotional information about what is truly going on.

I have naturally been observing all these 'going on's' for a few years now and have written about it a number of times in Xtend-Life's newsletters.

In my opinion the best informed information on CODEX comes from an organisation based in the UK called Alliance for Natural Health, ANH. Dr Robert Verkerk who is the driving force behind this organization is a tireless worker for those people who are interested in keeping control of their own health options. I have spoken to him a number of times and am impressed with what he is doing.

So, no matter where in the world that you live...if you value your right to make your own health choices I would suggest that you review the website of ANH and maybe subscribe to their newsletter. This is a legitimate organization and one well worth supporting.

Warren:

Can you comment on nitric oxide and it's importance to heart health.

Thanks

Hi Carlos. My understanding about nitric oxide is that it plays a role in dilating blood vessels when appropriate which in turn helps the flow of blood. For example the role of Viagra is to supress an enzyme that degrades nitric oxide. So, by suppressing that enzyme the flow of blood is sustained for longer.

Not a very technical explanation I know. Let me know if you want more detail and I will refer it to one of our experts for more info.
