Users of Multi-Nutrient Supplements have better overall Health than those who just use Multi-vitamin/mineral Supplements!

This was the conclusion according to a study published in ‘Nutrition Journal Oct 2007’.

Basically the study looked at long term users (20 years plus) of multiple dietary supplement users and compared them with those long term users who just took a standard multi-vitamin/mineral supplement, or, nothing at all.

‘Multiple dietary supplements’ mean a combination of a broad spectrum of supplements, including amino acids, herbal extracts, phytonutrients, and other specialty nutrients.

The researchers found that those who took multiple dietary supplements were in significantly better overall health than their counterparts whom just relied on the standard ‘multi vitamin/mineral’ supplement. This was measured by higher blood levels of key nutrients, more optimal levels of key health biomarkers, lower levels of diabetes and elevated blood pressure.

In fact, they determined that as a group they were 73% less likely to have diabetes and 39% less likely to have high blood pressure.

No surprises here really!

A simple multi vitamin/mineral supplement just doesn’t ‘cut it’ if you want optimal health!

Vitamins and minerals are only a small part of the overall health equation. There are many other substances that are much more powerful in helping prevent the degeneration of your cells and DNA. Vitamins and minerals are often just co-factors to help these other nutrients.

In other words they are essential, but not the answer for optimal health just on their own. Put another way, if you want to give your body the ammunition that it truly needs to avoid degenerative disease, don’t rely on vitamins and minerals alone. Also, don’t get ‘hooked’ by the premise that ‘more’ is better and the answer is simply to increase the intake of vitamins and minerals. That won’t work either.

Interestingly we were one of the first supplement manufacturers in the world to recognize this important premise. In fact, back in 1999 we were the first company to combine enzymes with our multi-nutrient supplement Total Balance. Since then other companies have followed, but it is only as a token because in order for the enzymes to work in their role of improving the bio-availability of nutrients they must be enteric coated.

So, if you want to maximize your long term health, start as early as you can and use a broad based supplement such as our Total Balance. Also remember that it is never too late to start and start accruing the benefits.

Hi Warren,

What are your thoughts on phytoplanktons, or Frequensea? How does Frequensea measure up to the article above? Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Hi Dirk,

I had a look at the Frequensea website. As you know it is an MLM deal which I personally don't like because they are forced to sell product at a highly inflated price to support the marketing structure.

Liquid drinks such as these are very popular with MLM companies becasue they are so incredibly cheap to produce.

There is no doubt that phytoplankton contains a lot of good nutrients but they are present in miniscule amounts and you have to have a lot of it to get real health benefits.

However the same could be said for cabbage which when analysed also contains and incredible amount of varied nutrients, but also in small amounts.

Products like these will certainly not do you any harm but I would not want to rely on them to provide the basis of my supplement program.

Maybe my position would change if they revealed the exact amount of active ingredients in each dose, but they never do because it would not look good.

Hi Warren

Thank you for your reply and insight. Truth is I currently use Usana, and currently im trying to decide between usana, your product and Frequensea.

Both yours and usana work on the basis that we must overload our body with vitamins and minerals(i mean more than the RDA) but frequensea works on the fact that it has all the missing nutrients and that is why it works so well. Would you agree with this?

Also Frequensea has had some excellent reviews. Please let me know what you think.

Thank you.

Hi Dirk,

Actually we don't work on the principle of overloading the body with vitamins and minerals. We don't use much more than the RDA and less than USANA but we more than make up for it with other more potent nutrients.

With regard to Frequensea it may indeed have most of the nutrients but then so has many other ingredients if you get down to the minute nitty gritty. Remember Seasilver which was a 'wonder' drink promoted via MLM? Well, the list of ingredients was very impressive and very big.

But..when you really looked at it hard you would find similar ingredients in the good ole common cabbage, In other words if you juiced up a half a glass of cabbage every day you would actually get more nutrients, Wouldn't taste as good though unless you added sweeteners and flavorants as they and all the liquid supplements manufacturers do.

What frequensea should do if provide full details of exactly what nutrients and the amount of them that you get per dose so you can assess it better.

With regard to reviews I tend to take these with a grain of salt when there is a 'business opportunity' associated with it. Many of the reviewers are not impartial.
