Another good reason NOT to drink tap water!
Over the years I have repeatedly warned against drinking water straight from the tap. This is because of the presence of contaminants within most water supplies. I have also written about deformed fish being found in San Francisco Bay due to actions of pharmaceuticals which are present in the bay’s water.
Well, the situation concerning drinking water continues to get worse according to a probe carried out by AP (Associated Press). They did investigative research and found pharmaceuticals present in drinking water right across the USA. (Note: this problem is not limited to just the USA. It applies in many other developed countries.)
Although the amounts detected are small the long term effects could be very dangerous, and of course with increasing use of pharmaceuticals the problem is only going to get worse…
There are two things that you can do to help yourself and the overall problem!
Firstly, do not drink water from the tap. Ensure that you have a good quality filter which removes pharmaceuticals. Check with your filter supplier. If in doubt set up a reverse osmosis system for your home or get a water distiller.
Secondly, try to avoid the need to take pharmaceuticals. Even if you do not throw them down the toilet not all the active ingredients get metabolized by the body so a portion of them pass through and end up in the water supply system. If you do not take pharmaceuticals try to keep it that way. One of the surest ways to achieve this is by the daily intake of our Total Balance and Omega 3/DHA.

Hello Warren,
Unless you know of a natural solution to hypothyroidism, I am destined to be taking levothytoxine the rest of my life, even though I detest having to use pharmaceuticals. I would welcome any information on "curing" my underactive thyroid if there is any out there. Otherwise, pharmaceuticals are a necessary part of my life which I simply can't avoid.

Hi Susan,
This is a an interesting question and one which is of interest to many people as well as Brad. So, I will refer to this tomorrow morning in the form of a new question.
Sorry for the delay.

I am surprised that you recommend reverse osmosis water. If you test it with litmus paper, it turns out to be very acidic (around 3 or 3ph). Since our ideal body ph is around 7.3ph, drinking 8 or 10 glasses of RO water would make us very acidic. Most illnesses occur when the body is acidic (cancer cannot grow in an alkaline environment of 7.3 or more). The book "Alkalize or Die" is an eye-opener. An amazing website is www.watersmart1.com. The doctor who invented the colonoscopy advocates this alkaline water and shows before and after videos of colons that were cleansed using this water. Really worth a look plus they give you a free acid-alkaline e-book. Linda

Hi Linda,
I think that you will find that the pH level of RO water is closer to 6. But really, I don't think that it makes much difference unlike food which can have alkalizing or acidic effects.
When you drink water it instantly goes into your stomach. It does not go into your blood stream. As soon as it hits your stomach it would not matter what the pH level was as it will immediately become acidic. Likewise alkaline water would be neutralized by the acid in the stomach.
Now, cleansing a colon with alkaline water is a whole different ball game. The intestinal trac is slighly alkaline anyway and I am sure using alkaline water for that purpose is beneficial as it would not be neutralized.
Interestingly we have the technology and knowhow for producing alkaline water and indeed a wide variety of different 'special' waters. However, we have not pursued it as no one has been able to show me the proof that it really does benefit the body.
