Check the labels of your breakfast spreads...

I am travelling at the moment and last night I stayed with some health conscious friends.

At breakfast time they put some organic jam on the table and fruit and muesli...  Plus some really nice dark whole grain bread.  As usual I looked at what spreads they were using for their toast and and as with many health conscious people they had a spread called Golden Olive using olive oil.  They had another which was a 'Delicious dairy spread with real dairy cream.

I asked them why they were not using butter, and the answer was because they believed that these spreads were healthier.

Also as usual I looked at the small print on the back of the containers.

The olive oil one had in small print "Virtually no trans fats".  That is double speak for saying yes, we have trans fats but we are not going to tell you how much.

The 'natural one' had on the label 'hydrogenated vegetable oil'.  So, in other words it was basically a hydrogenated vegetable oil spread with a little bit of dairy included.

I have yet to see a truly healthy 'natural spread'.  For me, I will stick to genuine unadulterated butter and use it sparingly.

If you are using one of these spreads read the small print and decide if you are happy eating what is often a cocktail of chemicals...emulsifiers and preservatives.

"3. Wide Product Line

This is something that most businesses don’t realize. Most businesses grow so fast that they often fail to give time to the initial product or service of the company. As a business grows, it is natural to have an urge to start a new product or widen your existing product and or service line. But with extended product line comes increased pressure and increased demands and expectations. A wide product line isn’t always good. Sometimes it is best best to narrow your focus on one thing than on hundreds."

Hi Warren,

I just had a blood test done and i was told my Riboflavin was slightly raised and it was not a major concern, however could come from taking Cardio Klenz or TB?

By the way I'm really confused about breakfast products, i wanna look after my heart but all this labels get me confused, example butter, there is such a variety out there, I usualy eat bread and cheese or bread with jam or have fuit and fibre cereal or muesli.

Thanks!

Mohamed
