Skin Care Products almost done!!!
After more than 18 months we are now in the final stages of completing our new skin care range. We have finally sourced and received all the raw ingredients which have come mainly from Europe. Our new equipment is installed and we are ready to manufacture the initial limited production run later next week.
By the middle of February we expect to have completed the filling of the tubes and later in the month we will be able to release the product to our customers.
We are really excited about this because after many months of testing and ‘tweaking’ we have a range of exceptional products. They have some new unique ingredients which really do work. We have been able to access these and make them available now, even though it will take another year or more for these ingredients to find their way into some of the top international brands.
All of the products are paraben and fragrance free and our brief to our cosmetic chemist was that all the products had to be safe enough to eat. This is because that is what you are effectively doing every time you apply a product to your skin. Some of the active ingredients ultimately make their way into your blood stream.
We are also pricing them fairly based on the cost of producing them, not what the market will bear. As a result our retail prices will be less than half of some of moderately priced international brands even though we have around three times the quantity of active ingredients.
I have been amazed at the excessive profit margins the big multi-nationals have on their products. They use less actives than they should and seem to rely on their name rather than efficacy.
Anyway, for those folk who have been waiting for these new products they are not far away.

Hello Warren,
These are great news! I've been waiting for the release of your skin care products since last year. But, I noticed that you are releasing only one for men. I am currently using Lab Series Skin Care for Men and will discontinue the usage as soon as you release your products. But the variety of selection of Lab Series is significant. Do you think men might need less maintenance than women? I understand that the skin in the face is thicker in men and much rougher. I was just wondering.
Thanks again for producing great products! Allan

Hi Allan,
Actually there are five products for men, Unfortunately I did not explain that very well. In addition to facial fluid there is an eye gel which helps remove the puffiness which can sometimes be around the eyes.
Also a body lotion, as well as the hydrating mask and cleansing mask to be used twice a month. We will probably develop a good face wash as well but that will be later this year.
I am sure that you will enjoy these products. I only started using a face cream about 2 years ago when I was talked into it. I was using what was apparently the top of the line Clarins product for men. Really expensive.
It was OK but had some questionable ingredients in it.
Even from the first generation of our new facial fluid I noticed a difference in feel and it had a visible affect on my skin.

I am looking for a cosmetic products like you said good enough to eat. Lipsticks! We've been using Usana products for the last 4 years - both nutritionals and skincare. We are changing over at the moment to Xtend-life and it's fantastic news that you are soon releasing this range of skincare.
We find it very interesting that your company recognise the differences between men and women and have different products for each, unlike Usana.
Skin is the largest organ and one of the first defences against dis-ease, so should be loked after accordingly.

Hi Meiyin,
Sorry but we are not producing a lipstick at this stage. The products are only for skin care and not cosmetics.
I am very much aware of the problem ingestion of lipsticks by women.
There are some companies that produce a natural lipstick. One of the better ones is living nature in New Zealand who produce a quality natural lipstick. You can find them at livingnature.com

Thank you Gina,
You will not be dissapointed with the new products. We have made no compromises with them.
Won't be long now...

Hi Allan
I was wondering what you think about sunscreens? I live in Boulder Colorado so we have some high intensity rays over here. I have been taking your supplements for several years now so I was quite surprised about your announcement for the skin care range. I have always used a moisturiser that contains sunscreen 15 SPF (Clarins) in the UK, and 40 SPF (Neutrogena) over here.
Will you be including an SPF or will you be recommending an additional product for us sun sensitive.
Thanks
Maureen

Hi Maureen,
I think you intended your question to be addressed to Warren, not me...
Warren, thank you for clarifying that you will indeed include more than one product for men. This is truly exciting, can't wait for them! I will the first one in line to purchase them. Will you be offering a loyalty program just like you do with your wonderful supplements?
Thanks so much!
Allan

Hi Maureen,
Sunscreens are OK as a 'sunscreen' when needed provided they are of the type that create a barrier on the skin such as zinc or titanium dioxide.
The problem is that you cannot put these safe types of sunscreens in skin care products. This is because they interfere with the mechanisim of the other active ingredients that you want to penetrate into the skin.
The SPF factors that are used in skin care products and many sunscreens are chemicals that work within the skin and can mix with the other active ingredients. There is no long term data supporting their safety and some experts believe that they are potentially carcinogenic.
For this reason if we put them in our skin care products we would be going against our policy of having them 'safe enough to eat'.
I realise that this will cost us sales given that many people have been conditioned to use skin care products with an SPF factor. However, it really is unnecessary unless you have excessive direct exposure to the sun for extended periods.
For normal day to day use it is undesirable to have it. For example, if your exposure to the sun is when you are walking from the car to the supermarket, going out to the shops or to eat at lunch time etc, etc then you need as much sun as you can get simply for the adequate production of Vitamin D.
If you don't like the thought of getting some tanning on your face we do have a version of one of the women's day creams that contains a natural whitening agent using an extract from nutmeg.
Our policy is that if someone feels that they need additional sun protection then they can always put some sunscreen on top of their face creams if they really need it. But...we cannot knowingly use an ingredient that has a potential health question mark hanging over it.
As a point of interest Maureen some of the Clarins face creams actually contain an ingredient that is used as a pesticide. We will elaborate on this when we release all the details about the new products.

Hi Allan,
At the same time we release these new products we will also be going live with our new website...at last. We are making some adjustments to the loyalty program but the principles that are in place will remain unchanged.
However, customers will have much greater control in that we will be giving them a secure online account and they will be able to vary their orders easily either in timing or amounts just by logging in and making the changes themselve.
And...yes, the new skin care products will also be included in the program.

Will you have a product for men's hands that get dry and cracked in the Winter?
January 18, 2008 | Nelson
Hi Nelson,
THe body lotion will be perfect for this problem.

Will your skin care product be more superior than Principal Secrets, Reclaim, which is very popular and is always on TV infomercial? And Loreal Derma Genesis?
Thanks!

Hi Liz,
Yes, I can guaranttee this. We looked at the best products in the world about 2 years ago before we started developing them. We are using some unique active ingredients which some of the big name brands are also going to be using but it will take another 2 years before they will appear in their products because of the long lead times to implement.
We are also using between 2 - 3 times more active ingredients than most other brands.
One of the most important features is that they are safe.
The two products that you mention are very basic and very cheap to produce. They are also both chemical based. We will set up a system to compare brands when we release the products.

Are your products going to be non-comedogenic and also are you looking at developing any acne skin care line for people suffering from acne. Perhaps something with manuka honey in it?
Will this new skin care range be suitable for people with sensitive skin?
Thanks, keep up the good work!
Tony

Awesome news.
I was looking for a efficient eye cream for years now.
I am sure I can count on Xtend-Life products.
January 20, 2008 | Joseph Ghassan
Hi Tony,
Yes, they are indeed non-comedogenic and they are suitable for people with sensitive skin. We are not using any fragences which can sometimes cause problems.
Actually we are using a very special active manuka honey extracts in several of the products.
We will consider producing additional more specialised products later this year depending how well our current range is accepted by the market.
