Question: from K Ahn
1. How does the high Omega 6 content in Inca Inchi Oil make it not a good Omega 3 source (in capsule form)?
2. What research indicates that our body needs the DHA & EPA form of Omega 3 (found in Fish Oil or algae) rather than the form found in Inca inchi and Flax seed oil?
3. What is the reason for not cooking with this oil? Does it decrease the Omega 3 content or is the concern related to the oil becoming "saturated" by the heat? If so, isn't this a concern for all cooking oils?
Answer: from Warren
1. In the western diet there is an overabundance of consumption of Omega 6. Some experts believe that the ratio is something like 20:1 in favor of Omega 6 whereas the desirable ratio is more like 2:1 or even 1:1. If you were not ingesting Omega 6 from any other source the ratio of Omega 3 and 6 in Inca Inchi oil would be perfect. But, that is not the case in the real world.
2. There is much research that proves that the body needs DHA and EPA. For example, consider that one of the main constituents of your brain is DHA. It has been well established that DHA is crucial in the development of an infants brain and the maintenance of the adult brain, If you go to Medline you will find dozens of studies reaffirming this,
Bear in mind that some people will be able to 'manufacture' DHA from the ALA in the Inca Inchi Oil but it is minimal as it first has to be converted to EPA and then to DHA. Studies have proven that the amount that gets converted is very small in most people and none in others.
The Omega 3 in Inca Inchi oil has 18 double carbon bonds, EPA has 20 and DHA has 22. So, the body has to work really hard to convert ALA to DHA.
3. With regard to cooking. The issue here is oxidation. It is important to use oil with a high 'smoke' point in order to avoid the oxidation. For example, olive oil whilst excellent oil for dressings is not good cooking oil because of its low smoke point. On the other hand grape seed oil (which I use) is excellent.

For blood clots the best option is Cardio-Klenz because it contains nattokinase and other enzymes which will help break down clots and other nutrients that help thin the blood. BUT...if you are on warfarin you have to use it with caution and in conjunction with your Doctor as it is likely that he will need to adjust the dosage and work with you to get off it.
