Possible help for Myoclonus?

Question: from David

I was diagnosed with Myoclonus and have been taking 1 mg of clonazepam (Klonopin) for a little over a year. My involuntary contractions of skeletal muscles or twitching as I called it have gone away and I sleep at night better than I have in years.

Because I tend toward natural products rather than prescription drugs I would like to know if your Neuro-Natural General can eventually replace my prescription of Klonopin. I am a full time RVer and live and travel all over the U.S. At present I am in the middle of the desert in Arizona an there are no physicians in the area that I can consult for this problem.

Phoenix is 100 miles from the RV Park I am staying in. The Barron Neurology Institute in Phoenix and their doctors are who diagnosed and prescribed the Klonopin. Although it is working I would like if possible to get off prescription drugs and on to a more natural way to fix my problem.

Answer: from Joanna (Medical Nutritionist for Xtend-Life)

Myoclonic jerks are a sign of a number of neurological disorders, but not a disorder in themselves, so I am assuming that you have not been diagnosed with an actual nervous system condition, and that this is an asymptomatic sign?

If it is generalized in this way, then it is possible that Neuro-Natural General may help, although to be honest I would be more inclined to suggest Neuro-Natural Memory. This is because the Memory version contains slightly different strengths of ingredients that I feel may be more relevant to helping you, such as in conditions like Parkinson’s, for example.

So, from our range I would recommend:

Total Balance Men's Plus at 6 per day - as this contains essential nutrients which help to support the nervous system, as well as many other daily balancing ingredients to help improve overall health;

Neuro-Natural Memory at 6 per day - for beneficial nervous system and neurological support.

Given the nature of your medication, this may still not allow you to come off it, at least until something further is diagnosed as a cause, as the medication is for the actual seizures that go with the muscle contractions, to help stop them.

However, with use of these supplements and time you may be able to reduce this medication, and your overall health will benefit generally. It may be possible that your body may be able to self-correct this malfunction or reduce to an extent where the medication is not needed. Of course this is dependent on actual cause, and individual severity.

Ensure good diet and moderate exercise to allow muscles to work properly also. If you need further help with this area please let me know.

I would give this a try for 3-6 months and at any time we can re-evaluate how you are progressing or if you need further help or advice.
