Question: from Cherry
I could find details on the benefits of green lipped mussel extract in your GLM Omega 3 Plus, but I couldn't find out why beeswax is in the formula. Could you include the benefits of this ingredient?
Answer: from Warren
Natural Beeswax is a natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever, so is compatible with the other ingredient goals in the GLM-Omega 3 Plus formula. It can also help to counteract the effects of NSAIDs (which are commonly taken by people prior to trying a natural alternative).
But, a major factor in using the Natural Beeswax is that we needed a natural emulsifier to help keep the green lipped mussel extract in suspension whilst we manufactured the product. The Beeswax is perfect for this as it not only achieves that objective but has some additional benefits as well!

I have been postmenopausal for two years but recently started menstruating. I'm wondering if taking flax seed or flax oil could cause this to happen.

Hi Kathy...Joanna our Medical Nutritionist is happy to comment about this. This is what she says:
Hi Kathy
You do not say your age, and this may be very important as to what is happening with you and which of the below scenarios may be relevant to you.
Just to confirm…Flax seed is very good for the diet as a food source. As an oil it can be helpful if you are unable to take fish oils as an alternative for essential fatty acids. Now in turn these will help hormonal balance to an extent, so it could be a contributory factor. However the amount of flax seed or oil ingested would need to be high as the hormonal balancing capability is weaker than that from a fish oil source.
Because you have been taking quite a high dosage, plus ingestion through diet, it is possible that the flax seed could have contributed to your menstrual cycle. To what extent this occurs of course is going to be individual.
Because the hormone-balancing lignans and plant oestrogens (phyto-oestrogens) in flaxseed oil help stabilise a woman's oestrogen-progesterone ratio, they can have beneficial effects on the menstrual cycle. In your case, the Flaxseed oil may have helped to improve uterine function to what you thought was full menopause. Alternatively, in addition, the essential fatty acids in flaxseed oil have been shown to block production of prostaglandins, the hormone-like substances that, when released in excess amounts during menstruation can cause the heavy bleeding associated with endometriosis. It may therefore be worthwhile being checked out in this regard to ensure that there are no uterine problems and that it is more of a natural balance return. Again, your age (and general health) may be an important factor in commenting further on the latter and any potential benefits (or problems) with the return of your cycle.
Please let me know how you are and any results of any further tests you may have done so that I can comment further on your particular circumstances. Also please feel free to let me have any further questions or comments you wish.
Best regards

Hmmm...you have got me on that one Sheila. I have never heard of that before. We only use it in our GLM Omega 3 as a natural emulsifier and have never had a problem. Maybe it was the quantity or perhaps the quality of hte beeswax which gave you a problem before. Sorry I can't answer it properly.
