Question: from John
I have an unusual situation as I've found, through many years of experimentation, that I can only eat raw foods, fruits, nuts, seeds, and vegetables, to be healthy. Any animal products, even in moderation, I've found to be detrimental to my health. I've been eating raw for 25 years, though not always consistently. I've discovered your supplements in September of 2005 and have used them off and on since.
Part of my regimen is the use of Flax Seed Oil. I would prefer to use Cod Liver Oil but I have fears of negative effects because it is an animal product.
Question: from Judith
I read with interest your article on supplements for dogs. I was told that Omega3 would benefit an animal just as it does with humans. I have a 9 year old Jack Russell Terrier who takes Phenobarbotole for seizures (which are greatly controlled).
Would Omega3 be a good supplement for him? I am also considering Athrit-Eze, since he has degenerative disc disease. I would be interested in hearing your advice.
We have had a number of customers write to us recently expressing concerns about ingredients sourced from China. These queries were triggered by a number of news releases highlighting problems of contamination of Chinese product.
So, I thought that it was appropriate that I gave you a full explanation about where and how we source our raw ingredients.
Firstly, it is important from the outset to understand that not all Chinese ingredients are substandard, although many are.
I think?? The issue that has taken so much of my time over the last few weeks looks like settling down. I am talking about the new legislation which would have seen Australian officials effectively taking over control of the natural products industry in New Zealand.
Fortunately the self preservation instincts of a number of politicians ‘kicked’ in as they were forced to listen to the overwhelming public and industry opposition to the bill. Some politicians who were ‘sitting on the fence’ will now oppose it. If passed it would have had grave implications for New Zealand health freedom in general.
We have had a number of emails over the last couple of weeks from concerned customers about a recent ‘news’ report that suggested that men who take a large number of supplements are increasing their risk of contracting prostate cancer. Here is one such report. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/healthnews.php?newsid=71142
The following email from Jason is typical of these emails when he says:
“Wow, I am actually a little scared now, and am seriously considering unsubscribing from your program.

Your candid advice is always appreciated. VitaminShoppe was raving about Black Pearl High Energy Libido Booster so I took note of the ingredients. They are: Arginine Ethyl Ester HCL, Cnidium Monier, diAllyaldesulpide, Icarlin, Cistanches extract, Eurycoma Longfellow Jack,L-Nor Valine, Zinc Mono Methione Aspartate and Yohimbine. What do you think of drinking this stuff to restore libido in a menopausal woman? HELP!!
Just a short note to apologise for not doing many entries in the blog over the last couple of week, and also not sending out our regular newsletter. I also apologise to those people who have been waiting for a reply to their emails to me. I have where appropriate forwarded them to other staff to respond to.
For the last couple of weeks I have been heavily involved in trying to help shape the result of some rather onerous legislation which is due to go back to Parliament very shortly for a second reading.
This time it is folic acid. In a new study named "Folic Acid for the Prevention of Colorectal Adenomas," which was published this month in the Journal of the American Medical Association it was found that high doses of folic acid did little to reduce precancerous colon polyps in those prone to them and may actually increase the risk of developing such growths.
Once again, like so many other studies the name of this study is misleading due to the inclusion of one word. 'Prevention' The participants in the study already had the condition that folic acid was supposed to prevent!
