What is the real truth?

"Performance enhancer maker linked to Olympians, including O.C. swimmer". This is the headline in a recent article on the MSNBC website.

It goes on to suggest that the banned stimulant drug clenbuterol which was discovered during a drug test on swimmer Jessica Hardy probably got there inadvertantly through her taking performance enhancing supplements. Her coach David Salo goes on to blame the supplement industry as being out of control etc, etc.

Ironically the company her coach is accusing has been actively promoted through Jessica's website for some time now through which she has heaped praise on their supplements.

Supplement companies who produce performance enhancing supplements for athletes are sometimes convenient scapegoats when an athlete gets tested positive. But, are they really guilty?

The reason I do not buy fruit juices...

I discontinued buying fruit juices or any liquid 'health' drinks years ago. The reason? Well, many of them simply are not healthy as they may have all sorts of stuff in them that you are unaware of.

All drinks which have natural fruits in them either have to have preservatives and other additives included or, they have to be very fresh with a very short shelf life. This is simply not practical for most products that have long supply and distribution chains.

Additionally with this market being so competitive many companies do not actively test their raw ingredients (most of which are imported) to ensure that there is no adulteration.

Blood Clot in the leg...

Question: from Tom

I just got diagnosed as having a blood clot on my right lower leg. It has a discolored rash look to it and varicose veins on the ankle. The doctor wants me to take coumadin and a injection for 6 months to see if it will clear up the clot. I really don't want to go this route. Would Cardio-Klenz be ok to try first? I am afraid of the possible side effects of coumadin.

Answer: from Warren

Yes, I really believe that the Cardio-Klenz would be a sensible first option. When you start taking coumadin then your natural options become very limited.

I would propose that you take a double dose of Cardio-Klenz for two months. Eight tablets a day. Then cut back to 6 tabs a day for the next 4 months and then down to the normal 4 tabs a day from then on until there is some evidence your problem is resolved.

I would also combine it with a double dose of the Omega 3 DHA for the first three months (4 soft gels a day) and then drop back to 3 per day from then on. This is an effective natural blood thinner.

Advanced Artery Solution by Dr Michael Cutler

Question: from Don

Can you give any insight on your product Cardio-Klenz versus Dr. Michael Cutler's product called Advanced Artery Solution?

Answer: from Warren

I don't like being uncharitable but truly this product Advanced Artery Solution is a dishonest one in my opinion. Their claims are grossly overrated and it is incredibly expensive for what it is.

Their main ingredient is EDTA which is a very cheap synthetic amino acid. EDTA is used primarily as a chelating agent to remove heavy metals, but there is NO evidence to support its efficacy for oral use. It is generally administered intravenously and in much larger quantities.

Whilst we were developing Cardio-Klenz we carefully researched EDTA as a possible ingredient but discounted its use because of a lack of evidence. If we had used it then it would have been the cheapest ingredient in the formula.

Statin Drugs for Children...A Disgrace...

Earlier this month the American Academy of Pediatrics issued a news release recommending that all children from age 2 be screened for cholesterol, and children from age 8 onwards be given medication to lower their cholesterol if it is elevated!!!!

We all know that they are referring to statin drugs. To see their news release click here.

This is unbelievable!

I am aware that Big Pharma is moving into difficult times as they have not been able to develop any new innovative block buster drugs for many years now and many of their big earners are due to come of patent soon.

But, this is really over the top!

Some will argue that the pharmaceutical company’s had nothing to do with this new ‘recommendation’…but those who truly believe that are being naïve to the extreme.

How do you know it works??

Question: from ‘keepitsimple’

Warren. You stated the following:

"We are also doing a premium version which will have everything in the standard version of TB plus a lot more. Whereas the main function of the standard TB will be as a general health anti-aging supplement with extras for men and women, such as it is at the moment, the premium version will go quite a bit further. In addition to it containing everything that the standard version has it will also have additional powerful anti-aging nutrients and boost overall DNA health."

I like the idea of having "a lot more" but only if it helps ME. How can you know that this helps the general population and interacts well with the other ingredients? They aren't just vitamins and minerals; they are herb extracts and we don't have a formula to analyze like we do for Vitamin C.

Supplements are such tricky business - much more complicated than traditional pharmaceuticals. We often don't even know what the active ingredient actually is. Additionally, many of these herbs have not had reliable double blind controlled clinical studies and their long term effects are unknown or unclear.

Gout and pharmaceuticals...

I know that there are many people who suffer from gout as well as some heart/circulation issues so I have answered this question in detail with a few hints that may be helpful to some.

Question: from Michael

I am a chronic gout sufferer; I have been fighting the condition with diet for many years.

Earlier this year (February) I was given Lisinopril for blood pressure and Simvastatin (Zocor) for cholesterol. All heck broke loose. I had swelling of my lymphnods (right arm) and gout attack after gout attack. I stopped taking the medications and have still been experiencing gout attacks one right after another.

I have been to several rheumatologists. They are stumped. All I have been given for it is Indomethicin. So I am on my own trying to figure this out.
