Statistics

Many studies have been performed to try to estimate the enormity of cholesterol imbalances and excessively high cholesterol throughout the world. Results show us that not only is the problem already huge in Western society, but that percentages continue to escalate globally.

High cholesterol is more prevalent in Northern Europe and Asia than in Southern Europe.

  • Studies on people aged 20 and older show that a higher percentage of women than men have total blood cholesterol of 200 mg/dL or higher, putting women at greater risk of heart disease.
  • 18% of men and 20% of women have blood cholesterol levels of 240mg/dL (high risk) or higher.
  • Among Asian/Pacific Islanders 27.4% of men and 25.8% of women have high blood cholesterol.
